Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Meritvo ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Meritvo.

2. Eligibility

To use Meritvo you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age (the minimum digital consent age in the EU).
  • Register only one account per person.
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction.

By using the Service you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

  • Choose a strong, unique password and keep it secure.
  • Notify us immediately at hello@meritvo.se if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • Not share your account with any other person.

Meritvo is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to keep your credentials secure.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Meritvo to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data from the Service through automated means without our prior written consent.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Upload, transmit, or distribute malware, viruses, or any other malicious code.
  • Engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the Service or its servers.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its related systems.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Meritvo uses artificial intelligence to generate CV suggestions and writing improvements. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI-generated suggestions are proposals only. They may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or content that is unsuitable for your specific situation.
  • Meritvo makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content for any particular job application or purpose.
  • You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all content before it is included in your CV or submitted to any third party.
  • Meritvo shall not be liable for any consequences arising from your use of AI-generated content, including but not limited to unsuccessful job applications.

6. Free and Pro Plans

Meritvo is offered under two plans:

Free Plan

  • 5 AI credits
  • Access to 1 CV template
  • Watermarked PDF export included

Pro Plan

  • Unlimited AI credits
  • Access to all CV templates
  • Watermark-free PDF export included

We reserve the right to change the features included in each plan at any time. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice of material changes by email or via an in-app notification before they take effect.

7. Billing and Cancellation

  • The Pro Plan is billed monthly at €9 per month via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the start of each billing period.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal accessible from your account settings.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to Pro features until that date.
  • We do not offer refunds for partial months or unused credits.
  • All prices are shown exclusive of any applicable taxes. Value Added Tax (VAT) may be added at checkout in accordance with applicable EU tax law.

8. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain ownership of all career data, personal information, and CV content that you create or upload to Meritvo. By using the Service you grant Meritvo a limited, non-exclusive licence to process and store your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

Meritvo's content: The Meritvo platform, including its design, software, CV templates, branding, and underlying technology, is the exclusive property of Meritvo and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our prior written consent.

9. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using Meritvo you agree to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Meritvo expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
  • Any guarantee of uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the Service.
  • Any guarantee that the Service will meet your requirements or produce any particular outcome in your job search.

We do not currently provide a formal uptime or service-level guarantee.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Meritvo and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.
  • Any damages arising from unsuccessful job applications or outcomes related to your use of the Service or any CV content.
  • Any unauthorised access to or use of our servers or any personal information stored therein.
  • Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to Meritvo in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or by posting a notice within the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service before they take effect.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sweden. If you are a consumer resident in another EU member state, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
